Everton sporting director Marcel Brands has revealed that he is looking for sustainable success with the Toffees following an extended spell with PSV Eindhoven. The 56-year-old arrived at Goodison Park last month after working as the director of football for more than 21 years in Holland and he most-recently witnessed PSV secured their third league title in four seasons.
Speaking on EvertonTV, Brands highlighted that he is aiming for a long-term relationship with the Everton’s hierarchy and believes Marco Silva is the right man to take the club forward, he said: “I have worked with three clubs over nearly 21 years, eight years at Waalwijk, five at AZ and another eight at PSV. So I am a guy that is not a ‘club-hopper’. I want to work here for a long time and build a structure that Everton can work with for a long time, and which fans can be proud of. "We also wanted a coach with some Premier League experience, because the Premier League is something special. Marco has that and, for me, it makes him a good coach to work with.”

Everton defender Seamus Coleman claims that manager Ronald Koeman has made the club extremely strong when it comes to defence.
The former Southampton manager took over from Roberto Martinez in the summer. Under the regime of Martinez, Everton played an attacking football and it was a hit and miss during his three years at the club. In one of the campaigns, the club came close to qualifying for the top four, while in the latter, they even struggled to make it to the top 10. Such inconsistencies were a major reason behind new Everton owners deciding to bring in Koeman.

Ronald Koeman started his regime at Everton with a 1-1 draw with Tottenham. It is not necessarily seen as a bad result given that Tottenham came close to winning the title last season.
However, the London outfit made numerous mistakes over the course of 90 minutes and many felt that Everton should have taken advantage. One of the reasons for Everton failing to score more than just one goal was their apprehension towards attacking the opposition with full force. Tottenham are one of the dangerous counter-attacking teams in the Premier League and this could have been a reason behind Everton holding back despite being at home.
