DISTIN SAYS SORRY
Everton defender Sylvain Distin has said that he is extremely sorry for the back pass, which was the cause for the late goal by Liverpool in the FA Cup semi-final between the two clubs recently.
Sylvain Distin has already won the FA Cup with Portsmouth in 2008.
He had the chance to help David Moyes celebrates his 10 years at Everton by lifting the FA Cup this season, but a catastrophic error by the Frenchman led to Liverpool scoring the goal in the dying minutes of the game, which eventually proved to be the winner. Following the match, Distin apologised to the Everton fans.
Andy Carroll has been a shadow of himself since joining Liverpool in the last January transfer window for £ 35 million. However, he has now scored 2 goals in his last two matches for Liverpool, and one of the better premier league bets has to be backing him to score again!
His goal against Everton in the FA Cup, though, was extremely lucky, as it was created due to a mistake from one of the most reliable defenders at Everton – Sylvain Distin. David Moyes said after the match that it was a missed opportunity for Everton to finally lift the trophy after a long time. Everton came narrowly close to lifting the trophy a few seasons ago, but lost in the FA Cup final to Chelsea.
“I’m in a bad place. I keep getting flashbacks to it. I take full responsibility, because I know I’ve cost a lot of people their place in the final,” Sylvain Distin said after the match. “He has been here a couple of times before and won the Cup with Portsmouth, so he knows exactly what it means and how important it is. He has been great for us but today he made a mistake,” Moyes said following the FA Cup exit at the hands of Liverpool.
