Frank Lampard says that he remains confident about being successful as a manager after watching his team succumb to a humiliating defeat at home at the hands of Brighton. The Seagulls were able to pick up a 4-1 victory on Tuesday night. This is a result which has been humiliating for Everton on so many ways and it has also left the team just a point above the relegation zone. Furthermore, the Merseyside outfit have played more games than teams below them in the table. Since his appointment as the Everton manager, Lampard has only picked up three victories in the 18 matches this season. In the previous 10 games, he has only picked up one victory.

The defeat comes just a few days after the valiant draw with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. Just when it seemed that this result would help Everton propel themselves to great heights and move away from the relegation zone, the loss against Brighton at Goodison Park comes as a major blow. It has raised doubts about Lampard’s ability to be successful as a coach after his previous spell with Chelsea also did not end in a positive fashion. The former Chelsea midfielder is known for his immensely successful playing days in which he has won almost every major honour including Premier League and Champions League titles.

"It was very disappointing, even in the first half, I would say. [It was] a mistake from us for their goal, but I think general play was pretty even, we had our chances. But then three goals in six minutes, defensive mistakes from us and that finishes the game. After that, the game becomes a bit in-between. We get our late goal, but at 4-0 the game's done. Those six minutes were completely pivotal to the game with individual mistakes and collective defending issues,” said Lampard.
