France international Kurt Zouma is looking forward to securing regular game-time with Everton after sealing a deadline-day loan move from Chelsea. The centre-back had failed to receive assurances of regular first-team football under Blues boss Maurizio Sarri and this urged him to make the move to Goodison Park before the transfer deadline.
In an exclusive interview with Everton TV, Zouma admitted that he was impressed by the ongoing project under Marco Silva and he is looking forward to making a notable impression with the Toffees during the ongoing campaign, he said: “I spoke to the manager for the first time about two weeks ago and I was interested in the project.
“He told me he was going to bring in some new players, which he did, a lot of them! But I’m looking forward to the season. Yeah he’s a good manager, he’s good in training, I’ve trained twice or thrice with him and he’s very good. He wants us to play, and is really close to the players. He wants to put more strength in the team, and I can be another option for him, and get enough game time.”
“Zouma had managed to break regularly into the Blues setup during the 2015/16 campaign .“but unfortunately, he suffered a seriously knee injury which kept him out of action for a lengthy period of time. Since then, he has never got a look into the starting lineup and he has now joined the Toffees after a good campaign on loan with Stoke City despite their top-flight relegation.
Everton begun their Premier League campaign with a 2-2 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers where a number of their summer signings were not involved but the match versus Southampton could pave differently with one of Zouma or Yerry Mina likely to make the starting lineup to compensate for Phil Jagielka’s red card at the Molineux Stadium.
