CHELSEA READY TO CHALLENGE
Team:
The Portuguese tactician Jose Mourinho accomplished a colossal task when he led Porto to European success by winning the Champions League and the league cup in the same year back in 2003.
This attracted the attention of media everywhere in the world but especially by Chelsea which finished in him signing for the English club and becoming one of the highest paid managers in football with a salary of £4.2 million each year.
Chelsea secured their 1st league title of 50 years under the guidance of Jose Mourinho in 2004 as his success continued rolling on. The next season arrived and things kept on going in their favour with consecutive league titles.
Following the departure of Mourinho from the English club they suffered a sudden impact in their game which saw them not being able to win the Premier League title until 2009.
After going through management problems which includes: Guus Hiddink, Carlo Ancelotti, Roberto Di Matteo and Rafael Benitez all of them getting replaced in the course of 9 years.
Things didn't get so bad that Chelsea fans were looking out for the best odds on the Blue square Conference North - in fact they won the Champions League in this spell - but they were never quite the dominant force they once were.
Finally Chelsea made a call back to the man who grabbed the most silverware with them. On 3 June 2013 after signing the contract with Chelsea: Mourinho told Chelsea TV: "In my career I've had two great passions - Inter and Chelsea - and Chelsea is more than important for me." "It was very, very hard to play against Chelsea, and I did it only twice which was not so bad." "Now I promise exactly the same things I promised in 2004 with this difference to add: I'm one of you."
He has also stated his desire to challenge to the top teams of the world and claim the Champions League trophy for the 1st time with Chelsea.
