Ronald Koeman Admits Dream of Coaching Barcelona One Day

Team:

Ronald Koeman has admitted that his dream remains to coach Barcelona, and he plans to fulfil this dream in the next couple of years.

This comes as a major disappointing news for Everton, who have been left impressed by the Dutchman. However, his Barcelona connections made him as one of the key options for the Catalan club to replace Luis Enrique in the summer. The manager has already announced his exit from the club at the end of the campaign. The likes of Jorge Sampaoli, Ernesto Valverde, and Ronald Koeman have been linked with the vacant managerial job at Barcelona.

After having proved his managerial instincts with the likes of Southampton and Everton,Koeman has set his sights upon coming back to the club where he enjoyed his best time in football as a player. He played at the Camp Nou for six years winning the likes of the European Cup, La Liga, Copa del Rey, and the UEFA Super Cup. He is regarded as one of the best players in the recent memory of Barcelona.

Considering that the Spanish club largely appoint managers who know the history of the club,Koeman has a very good chance of being appointed – if he continues on this successful reign.

Everton have been one of the best teams outside the teams competing for a top four place. “There's no chance that I will leave Everton before the end of my contract. I don't see me being the next [Barcelona] manager. I mentioned several times it's human ambition - for players, for managers. That doesn't change my position or contract with Everton. I'm really happy, I'm looking forward to next season,” said Koeman, who has been able to achieve this success at Everton without spending a lot of money. Next season’s success will depend on keeping players like Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku.
