SUNDERLAND IN TALKS TO RE-SIGN BROADHEAD
Team:
Newly promoted English Championship club Sunderland are reportedly in talks to re-sign Nathan Broadhead from Merseyside giants Everton. This is according to journalist Adam Jones who writes for the Liverpool Echo. Jones said Everton are in the midst of a squad overhaul as orchestrated by manager Frank Lampard and director of football Kelvin Thelwell.
Chelsea legend Lampard masterminded Premier League safety for the Toffees a few weeks ago after the home win over Crystal Palace and the target is to avoid a repeat ofthe just concluded season when Everton spent a big part of the season battling to stay in the top flight before the comeback 3-2 over the Eagles sealed their stay in the Premier League for one more season.
Liverpool Echo journalist Jones said it's almost certain that Broadhead has no future at Everton. He added that the 24-year-old would have made his breakthrough at Goodison Park by now if he has a future at the club realistically. It was a surprise when Broadhead was given a new contract while Carlo Ancelotti was the Everton manager as revealed by the aforementioned media personnel. However, it could be a good thing if Everton receive a transfer fee for him. He has one year left on his current deal at Everton.
Broadhead tasted first team football for the first time during his loan spell at Burton Albion in the 2019/20 season. The attacker garnered a lot of attention when he was at Burton Albion. The attention has increased during his time at Sunderland who secured promotion to English Championship football by beating Wycombe Wanderers in the League One playoff final.
Broadhead has had a good spell in League One with 13 goals in 27 games. The attacker has also missed a lot of games through injury. He has missed 26 games as a result of injury.
